Fit Friday no.6 (2017)

Its been awhile since I've done a Fit Friday post.
Fall is finally in full swing in Texas, I even have the heat turned on in my house today. I like to use this time of year to mix it up a little. Too much time in the gym can just get so boring, not to mention I always feel like I am so busy in the fall. There is just so much to do to get ready for the holidays, inevitably, I slack on going to the gym. This year though, I am in such a good rhythm.
One of the things I try to do is stay active at work. I'm pretty lucky in this respect, because my job is literally to chase two wild little boys around all day. I keep the boys on a pretty active schedule. We are always going here or there, but I try to fit in walks as much as possible. Last week I only had one in the afternoon, so I jumped at the opportunity to load him up in the stroller and go on a 45 minute walk/jog! I remember when I worked at a preschool, I would do squats, crunches and push ups while the kids napped. If you really try, you can fit it in anywhere.
I know it can be so easy to fall off the "healthy bandwagon" this time of year. Believe me, I am a lover of all the yummy things. Those (never healthy) Thanksgiving sides, pies, hot cocoa, peppermint milkshakes, Christmas candy.. SIGN ME UP! Ha! I love it all, and I plan to eat it all. Just a little bit, because depriving yourself just never works. Trust me, I know its so easy to give up this time of year, but I'm not going to do it, and if you're on your own fitness journey, you shouldn't either!
This is why I'm mixing up my fitness routine. The last place I want to be after eating junk is in the gym, but outside, is somewhere I always want to be. I love to spend time outside, this time of year. For years now, every fall, when the weather is nice, my mom and I have gone on long early morning walks and hikes on the weekends. This year, I'm going to be even more active outside, and keep those holiday pounds at bay.
Plus, something about the fresh air just makes my soul feel good!

How are you staying on track this fall?
Are you mixing up your exercise routine?
