What's up Wednesday

What we're eating this week:
Honestly it's gotten kind of boring in our house! A few weeks ago I perfected an awesome dry spice rub that I have been putting on chicken. It's sooo good! We've been having baked chicken and roasted peppers and veggies (during the week) for a few weeks now. I mix it up on the weekends to keep us from going crazy, but we're really trying to eat healthy to get ready for our trip to Mexico this fall.

What I'm reminiscing about:
Probably our most recent little trip. It was just a long weekend but I feel like we got to do so much. We went to Corpus Christi for a family event (all of Chris' family lives in or around Corpus) and then we spent an awesome day in San Antonio. We even made some fun stops on the way home the next day. Three full days of fun! (I'll probably post trip details on the blog in the next week!) I've been a million times, but San Antonio is still one of my favorite places for a little weekend trip! I also love visiting Chris' family. Each time we go I come home with a pile of baby pictures and little items his grandparents kept of his.

What I'm loving:
SUMMER! I'm absolutely loving this summer. We have been spending every weekend we can at the pool. Also, this is my first summer being a full time nanny, and I've been able to do so much with the boys. We got a summer pass at our local movie theater so we get to go to movies once a week all summer! We're also doing a couple of summer story times at nearby churches and of course we love the splash pad. I love being able to have fun with them this summer!

What we've been up to:
Like I said above, summer! We are having a great summer. We've gotten to get out of town a bit, and spend lots of time relaxing and at the pool. Last weekend was our good friends engagement party and this weekend we have friends in town that we haven't seen in way too long!

Headed to the pool with my niece a couple weeks ago!

What I'm dreading:
Not really dreading, but Chris is having lasik eye surgery this Friday. I'm super excited for him, but not thrilled that I won't be able to be there with him. I know it's a super simple surgery that's done every day, and he won't even be sedated, but I just hate not being able to be there with him.

What I'm working on:
Organizing our home! I feel like I'm always working on this! We just have a whole lot of stuff and a tiny space. I'm trying to get rid of what we don't need, but it"s so hard. Also, my blog! If you're reading this and my page looks a hot mess, bear with me. It's all trial and error right now.

What I'm excited about:
I'm excited for the rest of the summer! I'm super excited for Chris to not need glasses anymore, and I'm excited to see some results from working out and eating healthy! Hopefully those come soon!

What I'm watching/reading:
I'm watching The Bachelorette this season. I don't normally watch, but somehow I got sucked in this season and I have to know what happens. I also got sucked in to America's Got Talent. I feel like I cry (happy tears) every single episode. Chris and I watch two shows together, The Voice & The Ranch (netflix original) and with the voice on hiatus for summer, we were so happy when season 3 of The Ranch came on Netflix that we binged the whole thing in two days! Oops. As for reading, I am discovering and following new blogs daily. I am still getting the hang of things in the blogging world (my layout has a long way to go) but I'm learning. If you're a fellow blogger, say hi!

What I'm listening to:
Despacito 🙈 I try to sing it and Chris just laughs at me, but I don't care. The boys I nanny love it too, so I literally listen to it ten times a day at least. Also, my favorite lady, Jessie James Decker, just released Blackbird Sessions. It's a little collection of acoustic songs, one of hers and four covers, and they are amazing.

What I'm wearing:
Leggings and tanks all day every day y'all! There's really not much more to say about my wardrobe lately! At the beginning of summer I went to Target and Kohl's and picked up several simple tanks and I have been living in them. Nothing better than a super soft, loose fitting tank in the summer!

What I'm doing this weekend:
Chris is having surgery (even though it's just lasik) on Friday, but Saturday we are hoping he's recovered enough (fingers crossed!) to go out with our friends that are in from Indy. They just got engaged and we're so excited to celebrate them, and to even just see them. They moved away last summer and we miss them!

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Really, just to continue enjoying summer. Hopefully I'll have a little bit of a tan next by this time next month. Ha! We don't have any big plans for July. I'll be taking in as much relaxation as I can because August-December is always our crazy busy season!

What else is new:
Geez.. I think its all covered. I'd love some new blogging friends though, so say hello!

Whats you favorite July 4th tradition:
Fireworks! There is seriously nothing I love more than some fireworks. Watching them, shooting them, doesn't matter! I've been lucky enough to see some amazing shows in really beautiful places, but nowhere compares to Telluride, Co. My family has a summer cabin in the mountains above Telluride, so all of my summers as a child were spent here. Laying on a blanket on the ground and watching fireworks shoot towards you out of a mountain.. theres just nothing better y'all! We are planning a trip there for next summer and are hoping it will fall around the 4th! I can't wait to share it with Chris!
